Default 1990 Jaguar Vanden Plas Majestic

Aloha,

I just purchased a pretty sweet ride, albeit kind of by accident! We found a 1990 Jag on Craigslist with only 45k miles on it at a crazy low price and had to take a look at it! Just wanted a fun island cruiser to ride in on weekends. Never joined a car forum before, so it's all new to me!

After we purchased the car, we noticed the "Vanden Plas" and "Majestic" emblems on the back and looked into it. Turns out we bought a super limited edition Jag!! Who knew? The car has been sitting in a garage for the last 5 years, untouched, so surely we'll be in for some learning along the way. We did notice it didn't have its leaping Jaguar hood emblem and wonder if it was stolen at some point, I know that was a popular thing to do in the 90s. The whole has a proper plug, though.

Anyway, if you have any suggestions on maintenance, care, etc. please feel free to drop a reply! We are already having one problem with the headrest lamps as they won't turn off and definitely draining the battery.
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Welcome to the forum Kcbelanger,

(I've deleted your headlamp question from XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III forum as you subsequently posted it in XJ40 forum)

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the XJ40 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You haven't given a City/State Location so I can't give you a link to the appropriate US Region forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hi Graham,

Thank you for your help. I find the whole XJ6/XJ40 thing really confusing (my manual says it's an XJ6). I have updated my location and signature.

I'm also totally new to any kind of forum but I figure this must be a good place to start with my newly acquired 27 year old car!!

Welcome.

Well done indeed.

Jag has had us all guessing with the XJ6 naming covering MANY years, and actual models.

You will get the hang of it quite quickly.
