Welcome to the forum, Jim. Head on over to the X300 section and we'll get you sorted out. Search "instrument panel" over there and I think you may find some interesting reading. Crank sensor was a good call, as they are prone to failure and frequently give a bit of warning like that. Apparently not the whole problem, though.

I replaced crankshaft sensor with lucas still misfire $107.99 -$20.00 online purchase =87.99 +tax autozone
key on connector disconnected pin 3-5.05v pin 2- 0v pin 1- 0v
key on connector connected checked tps pin 2 -.56v closed throttle to 4.62v wot variable with throttle
checked two temperature sw 1 pin temp sw water heated on stove
normal temp .65k ohms to .09k to almost boiling 2nd temp with two contacts .
Normal temp 2.75k ohms to.48k ohms almost boiling
checked front o2 sensors heater elements seemed ok not open will check rear 2 o2 sensors tomorrow.
Fuel pump pressure at 42 psi constant except when it misfires it drops 5 psi.
I un-pluged the sensor by the throttle body and the engine ran a little smoother and would keep running it has 4 pins. Plug it in and it dies. No measurements on this one till i figure out which one it is. Any ideas or suggestions. What's next.

New 900cca battery. Keep it charged with 2a trickle charge.
Alternator belt was screaming today there might be a short in
the alternator. Voltage output on gauges are about 13.5 v stays constant but could have a intermittent short in alternator.

Many members check the Intro section. A lot will read them (your Intro has had 125 'views' as I write this) and several will post a 'welcome' in reply (as 7 members have done).

However, few members will then check back here again which explains why your posts listing progress haven't received replies.

The 'normal' procedure is to start a thread in the appropriate tech section for troubleshooting progress and questions. I can move your posts #9, #10, #11 and #12 to a new thread in X300 section where members with the same model will see it and respond. Do you want me to do that or do you want to start a new thread there yourself?

Most commonly this points a a failing coil......

....but if replacing the crank sensor fixed it, you're lucky :-)

If the screaming remains after checking/tightening the alternator belt check for a delaminating harmonic balancer. As years you by we seem to be seeing more and more of them

Do you still have the misfire?

brake lites do not work. probably sw under dash defective cked all fuses will ck again.

Brake light switch failures are fairy common. Easy enough to check with a meter.

The original design was replaced with an update taht requires a silly-expensive adapter harness. A DIYer with a bit a creativity could fabricate his own adapter wiring easily

Cheers

Still misfire isolated alternator. Unplugged iac and misfire still but less but engine will continue to run. Going to ck measurements on iac.
Do you know what measurements should be?
Replaced temp sw. Still misfires. Checking all grounds. Need to check all the front by headlamps.

I checked tps with it unplugged and key on the
pin 3 was 5.0v
pin 2 was 0v
pin 1 was 0.1v
plugged it back in and
pin 2 is now 4.9v
i saw some where pin 2 unplugged should be 4.9v. Is this true. What is wrong . Cking all relays and blowing the contact out and putting gel to protect from water and other matter to insure good contact.

Brake lite will diagnose later. Still misfires. Isolated altenator to see if it was introducing any thing into system and it is still misfire.

The harmonic balancer is on air cond. Air is off and screams a little and all belts are tight.
