Hi all. Cliff here and I am new to the forum. If you look at my data you will see I own a 65 Vett. I have owned and restored several E type Jags in the past and enjoyed restoring them and consider myself very familiar with them But I am looking to buy a 2000 XKR supercharged and am looking for advice. I read earlier to join up and post the car and see if anyone knows it. It is listed at a dealer in Frankfort Il. It looks beautiful and the dealer write up sounds good also. I have read some that prior to 2001 these Jags my have engine liners and tensioner problems. The Vin on this is SAJJA42B3YPA10567. Red convertible with charcoal interior. Any and all suggestions are welcome. We just started looking for one of these and this one popped up. I am a diy guy for sure and am looking forward to learning about these Jags so I should be on the forum a lot! And yes we still miss our old Jags especially the 67 ots.
The dealer is Frankfort Auto Haus if there is any input about them that would be helpful too.
It looks a tidy example apart from a nasty tear in the driver's seat bolster and must be the only vehicle I've ever seen at a used car sales with a full tank of fuel.
The description includes charcoal leather and it is clearly ivory. It also claims keyless start which was not offered on the XK8/XKR. The XK8 should have 2 x black master keys, 1 x green valet key and 2 x remotes.
History is everything with a used Jaguar. Regardless of the low mileage, it should have been serviced every 12 months. No mention in the description but I'd want to see a fat file of bills. A 2000 will have plastic tensioners which will need replacing if not already done.
