Hi and Thank you for the add to forum and hope to learn and get my XK8 fixed lol So the other day I noticed a large amount of oil under car near middle and found the attached pictures indicating where it's coming from, basically it gushes out fast and then stops and then back up til my oil is gone.. Any idea? Pics attached, I took that rectangle cap off to get an idea why, so it being gone isn't the reason or does it seal better than just popping off?
Last time I saw exactly that was on my XJ40 with a failed rear crankshaft seal. A 7 UKP part at the time but a lot of work to change it. I dropped the transmission off the back of the engine after removing the radiator to prevent contact. You should be able to do the same on an XK8.
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Hello,
Yup. You have a failed rear main seal.
It's common for Jags to "mark their territory" but that's a bit over the top.
I wish you success repairing it.
