Question 2007 xk coupe in BC, battery dead

I'm a new forum member.
Hello.
I bought my 2007 XK 4 months ago, with 64000 km.
Daily driver.
Battery was dead yesterday, so I charged it last night and went for a ride.
Battery was dead again this morning. Sunday.
I'll charge it Monday and drive to a shop for a battery test.
I don't know the age of the battery.

Cautiously Optimistic

Welcome to the forum Neil,

Sorry to hear about your battery issue. If it's the original, it could be failing at six years old. Jaguar OE batteries are 'Varta' brand and have the manufactured date stamped on the top of the Negative terminal post as WW/YY where WW = Week and YY = Year.

Such sudden rapid failure is unusual and you may have some other fault where the vehicle is not going into 'sleep mode'. Follow this link XK / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK/XKR section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the Canada Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/canada-mexico-south-america-41/ to find other members in your country.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to this friendly Forum, Neil.
If the battery is good you'll need to measure current drain - lots of posts on this Forum.

Welcome Neil,
I just went through this with my Jag. Measuring the drain, plus the charging voltage should narrow it down for you. What part of BC?

I thought I had added car model to my signature, but I neglected to "save" my signature. Thanks.

Maybe I didn't lock it, and therefore it wasn't asleep, and overnight the battery drained.
A mechanic said he'd seen this before. He had a Jag that would drain a battery overnight if doors not locked.
(must be a poor battery, or a big drain, or both.)
So I charged it up, and I've been sure to lock the doors when parked, and I've had no issues since.
(although it's only been 3 days that I've been driving since my dead battery)

go 'nucks go

This 'unlocked' issue has been reported in all the later model tech sections by several members.

Those who often leave their vehicles unused for several days or weeks at a stretch generally use a battery tender to avoid issues.

Hiya Neil,
I'm across the Strait from you, in Nanaimo. I'm hoping to get over to Powell River (my old hometown) this summer so will be passing through Sechelt at least once. I'll wave as I go by.
