Default 2009 Jaguar XF

This is my 4th Jag, 1996 XJ6, 1998 XJ8, 2002 XJ8 and now a 2009 XF. The best was the 96 inline 6.
ISSUE: Locking car with Fob or manually right front passenger door does not lock, all others do. Upon locking I get two beeps, indicating a problem. Opening the supposedly lock RF door sets off alarm.
I have read post on the Forum and viewed videos on YouTube. Some good info and then some bad.
Removed the door card/panel to access the mechanism/lock. My findings were as follow;
once the panel was removed and wired connection disconnected the door lock worked like it should and no alarm.
When card was reconnected the lock failed and alarm sounded.
Is there a y good advice out there. New actuator here in S Cal $328+. Ouch

Welcome to the forums JJJaguar,

I alos had a good ownership with my 1996 XJ although my 2007 XK was the most reliable Jaguar I've owned over the past fifty years.

The door locks/latches on the XF are a similar design to those on my XK. Most lock issues result from faulty microswitches in the latch assembly. Your disconnect/reconnect test indicates this as a possibility.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xf-xfr-x250-44/ to the X250 forum for help, advice and information. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham, thanks for the info. Recently spoke with service rep at dealership he indicated to me that there are 4 different models of the Jag XF sedan. Do you by chance know what these models are?
Our dealership is asking $328+ for lock module, have read statements on the forum of 120 pound UK that's about $165.
Know any sources?

I think he will be referring to:
1. Standard locking
2. Passive entry
3. Keyless entry and start
4. Keyless start

There's different handles/door latches for each of these types.

Any Jaguar Dealer can look up your full vehicle specification on JLR TOPIx from the VIN (the VIN itself doesn't give this information) which will confirm the entry type on your XF.
