36 years - Finally a Jaaag!
Hi Guys & Gals,
The name's Jim, and fate has deposited me in lost world of Southern Maryland. The title of this post is no joke: it's taken 36 years (if you don't count lusting over XKEs as a kid) of shopping, hemming & hawing, and deciding for me to FINALLY get my hands on a Jaaag (Top Gear pronunciation - lol).
"Kitty" is an '03 XKR Coupe. Black paint, black interior, black wheels, and LOTS of black brake dust! (Shadow Cat). Just bought her back in June, get this: sight unseen(!) from a bloke in New Hampshire. Gotta tell you - one of the more stressful things I've ever done. She's got some "sniggles" to take care of, but other than going through motor oil a little fast, she's an absolute dream.
Me: Originally from NYC. Degrees in Aerospace Engineering & Business; Careers as a Navy and Airline pilot have bounced me all over the place. For now I call Great Mills, MD home, although Jacksonville, FL is a frequent stop (minion, doncha know
). I'm in Program Management for the Navy on the V-22 Osprey program for a few years more - just to get me over the retirement threshold (then,... I'M OUTA HERE!!!)
I'm not a stranger to British cars though. '66 MGB, two '68 GT6s, and I'm currently building the car Triumph should have, but never did: A convertible GT6 (aka CGT6) with a five speed transmission (Japanese - sorry!). However, let's be honest, comparing "those" basic cars to Kitty's complexity is just shy of absurd. So I have a bit of learning ahead of me as I do most of the maintenance myself.
I cheer for the NY Giants, and think Formula 1 is one of the few "real" racing venues left (with an appreciative nod to NHRA).
That's it for now. Great to be here!
Scardini1 - OUT!

Thank you all.
Graham: I've been to the Regional section - nice touch. Is there a member listing that I can filter by State? There are at least four other XKs around here, (including an '05 identical twin to Kitty). I'm not sure if I'd have the necessary "permission" to access it right now, but it'll come in couple of days.
I'll see what Thermo's up to. Thanks for the refereral!
Ciao Y'awl - Jim

On the black menu bar go Community - Members to bring up the full list of 469 pages with 14063 members.
Top of the list at the right hand side, click on Search Members - Advanced Search.
In the options boxes, only enter in the Location box. I used MD here to return 3 pages with 85 members.
