6 cylinder to v12 conversion
I am a new member. I have a 94 XJS with th 4.0L 6cyl and a manual 5 speed. As many of you know, the 6 cyl XJS is a dog in the performance area. Has anyone dropped a V12 in the manual trans XJS? I understand it would Mae it a real screamer.
Thanks,
JohnV

Welcome.
Have a stooge around teh Series 1/2/3 tech section. Doug has made his XJ6 an XJ12.
I realise not the same, but the info would be handy.
Some here have manualised their V12's, but I dont know of any that have done your suggestion.
Yes, the V12 manual is a screamer.

Do as you like, of course. But you have a rather rare and desirable model. Personally I'd leave it alone.
It'll be much easier to buy a V12 XJS. Make it a 6.0 litre for some real ooomph.
If you go ahead with the swap you'll want a donor car on hand...or very easy and long term access to one....so you can get EVERY part you'll need, right down to the wires, bolts, brackets, cables, instruments, fuel pipes, etc. Actually installing the engine will be the easy part. Sorting the (seemingly endless number of) details is what takes the time and effort.
