Hi, and greetings from sunny (not) Finland! Spring is here (today only -5 centigrade in the morning) so it is time to get Jaguars out and running. Er, at least soon. I bought a XK -07, and I am getting it tomorrow!

So, one question: which checks are the first ones to do? Oil of course, but more esoteric ones?

Ismo

Hello, Ismo,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!

The first things I check in a "new" car, besides the color and smell of engine and trans oil of course, do the AC, electric windows and electric seats work? If those things work well, a Lot of other stuff can be forgiven; depending on your personal priorities that is.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thank you ElinorB! I remember having read, that the rear side windows "holder" or sth can break, and you can wiggle that side window. Expensive to repair? And there is no way of knowing if XK's A/C desides to put a gallon of water inside your car tomorrow...?

Wow, friendly people here Thank you all very much. Car is mine now, ride is good and it is a very pretty car! A few things so far: leather behind driver's seat has detached itself, not torn. Rear side windows do move perhaps a centimeter, is that ok or not? A plastic "shield" of rear register licence plate's lamp is not correctly seated, must be broken or too big a lamp there.

Hopefully I do not find many more surprises, thes are not big things. Right?

You have a Coupe like mine - not a Convertible? If so, the rear side windows are fixed and shouldn't move at all.

I recommend you ask questions about the driver's seat and licence plate lamp in XK/XKR forum.
