Default Another new jag owner

Hello my name is Josh I live in Florida and have just recently became a owner of a 1987 XJ6 with 90,000 original miles,I purchased the car from a exs grandmother car was garage kept all off it's life up till last year where It made the trip from orgeon to florida and sit for awhile.i turned 16 a few months ago and finally got enough money to buy it.went to pick it up had bad battery swapped a new one in and drained the gas since it had sat so long, refilled with fresh gas and she fired right up,I am starting to fall in love with these cars I Am looking foward to meeting ever one.
Thanks
Josh

Welcome to the forum Josh,

Great car for your first, I hope the rat wasn't big enough to wear those specs.

Well guys it's a sad day,the original owner contacted me saying that they have been looking for the car since they sold it to the person I bought it from 6 years ago.pretty much asking to buy so I was happy to help them out and sold it to them.
Right now I'm looking for another jag.
Any thoughts?

Josh;

Welcome!

You are going to do just fine with Jaguars, you obviously have the skills, and a good heart. You will need both in the long run with these cars.

That was more than decent of you to resell your new car back to the family.

I was driving Jaguars, '67 420, before my 16th birthday by about 4 years....in those days the Policeman came by the house and told you not to do it anymore or they would tell your father....these days I am sure it would be a Federal Case and you would end up in Guantanamo for your 13th birthday.

Steer away from the XJS you posted...that is not an original convertible it was a hard top that someone converted.....not a good investment no matter how cheap it is.

Plus those are non standard wheels (cheap) and way over sized tires on it.
Which will make it handle like a pig.

Since you are smart enough to ask for advice at your age then no doubt you are smart enough to listen to the brain trust of experience and expertise on this forum.

I don't include myself in that group but I imagine some will second my views of that particular car and give you some good ideas about where to look next.

Count_Damonee is in your neck of the woods try contacting him for advice.

The folks on this forum will give you great and accurate advice

It is worth it to be a member here.

Seriously there is not much the members don't know about Jaguars on here and if they don't there will be half a dozen folks that are willing to find out and report back.

Great reading on preventative maintenance on about how to avoid trouble and how to get out of it if you can't avoid it.

Good luck and as always send/post photos.

cheers,

jj

Thanks for the kind words appreciate it very much.
I have the skills and know how to pretty much do anything with a crank and pistons.but unfortunately I'm not firmillaier with the jaguar models so that is why I posted here.
And nowadays you drives underage the o so kind police men suspend your license until your 18 or up to one year.(been there still don't have my license till August)but that doesn't stop me.
I will keep you guys posted.
Much thanks
Josh

Like I say Josh you will do fine.

I see you already have the requisite attitude to authority in place.

That will be handy in the future.

Just stay out of the slammer or always carry a deck of cards with you to while away the time.

cheers,

jj
