Hi, all. I've been hanging around the forum for a little while gathering information and learning what I can about a particular Jag that caught my eye and I finally pulled the trigger and bought it. It's my first Jag.

My new-to-me ride is a 2005 XJ8L single owner car with only 40K on the odometer and no Carfax issues. Black with tan interior. I'll post pictures when I take some.

So far I only have about 400 miles of my own on the car and hope to put some more on today, but love the car and all its features.

Had to do some wrenching on the rear as the dealer "fixed" the rear bumper shroud but left out half the hardware. Thanks for that...

Have a slight antifreeze odor up front but it has to be a very small leak as the level is staying up and I can't see any seepage anywhere. I'll have to keep an eye on that. Otherwise it's like new in and out.

Gonna go put on some miles.

Check out the XJ8 section for your year, coolant wiffs do come up. (expansion tank IIRC)

I've spent a lot of time in the XJ8 section of the forum both before and after I bought the car. Both to find out what problems I might expect, reliability, etc. before I commited to the purchase, and since for little things like the slight coolant odor.

It does seem to be coming from the area of the coolant tank. Of course that sits on top of the radiator, so... I don't see any leaks or drips and frankly the odor is so slight that the leak has to be very small. I've gone throught the threads that I can find on this topic and nothing yet seems to have hit on anything that I find on this car. I'll keep my eye on it.
