Hi Jaguar friends!
This is my first time on jaguar forums. I guess I will
Tell you a little about myself: I am 66 and live in
Bayfield, CO. A very small town in SW Colorado, about
20 miles from Durango. A very beautiful fall day I must say.
I bought my XJ8 L in January 2020. I found it in Tacoma, WA. It cost $ 6,000. I had a mechanic check it out for me. He stated that it was in great condition.
My Grandson (20 at the time) who lives up there went and picked the car up.
I sent him the gas $ and he and his buddy drove it here.
Boy, did they have a wonder drive!! Anyway, I'm the only person in La Plata County that has a Jag and it is sweet.. I don't let anyone work on it but me. So far I have changed water pump , thermostat, serpentine belt. Worked on the radiator well actually the overflow reservoir(that is a cheap and faulty part if you ask me... always giving me trouble.
Talk about that another day. Then two falls past I decided to spend winter in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
On Christmas Eve I took off from CO. It was a snow storm and a not so pleasant, - 13*. My car did great. I couldn't wait to see palm trees! After a couple of months I changed spark plugs and ignition coils. That was really hard for me to do. I just took my time. The car really hauled a** after that, lol. In May I headed home; and one evening just outside Taos NM , a huge raccoon decided to commit suicide. It really messed up the right underside of fender and broke the small running light. On arriving home I just parked it.. I know it is not that big of a job but haven't felt like fixing it yet. Plus, need new battery and that is $200. bucks. They snow and cold will be here soon so need to get busy this week. So once again need to read and study up. That's what I was doing today and thought I would join Jaguar Forums. Sorry about talking so long but just trying to figure things out. Don't worry next time sign in I will only ask specific questions.
Thanks, for putting up with me.. Have a great weekend.

Hello, Barbara,
Congratulations on all your successful repairs to this point!
I don't allow anyone else to work on my Jag either.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
