Hi all. I have a 1995 XJR X300 which I am about to have repainted BRG. I am having difficulty locating the bump strips and the belt straps - I believe they are called belt straps, the strip seals along the door sills. I could probably go without both and have the painter remove the existing belt straps and paint over the bumps strips. I do not know how to remove the belt straps. If anyone can advise on this it would be very helpful.
The cost of replacing these items - genuine - in Australia is such that along with the cost of painting it makes the project economically not viable.

Welcome to the forums Peter,

I'm not sure what you mean by "belt strap" so I'll leave it to our Australian members to advise on that one.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Australia - Queensland Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...queensland-92/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome to the Forums.

The waist mouldings, are Mega $$, and mine were undamaged and intact, so painted over. Class A Painter by the way.

No idea of the belt strips. I understand where you are talking about, but never noticed on either of mine.

Good luck

My painter used the term "belt strap" referring to the moulding which holds the rubber seal at the lower side of each window.
I am presuming they are clipped in place. I am having difficulty with their removal. I could use some advice on How To.

Jaguar call these the waist seal or waist rail (see item 6):

They have a series of spring clips securing them to the top of the door panel. Usually they pull off, working gradually backwards and forwards along the lengh to avoid distortion. I can't recall if the X300 has a fixing screw at the end but members in X300 forum with this model will be able to help.
