Xj40/X300 XJR
Hello, I've been reading the forum for a while but just registered recently. A few details about my project:
I have what originally started as a 91 XJ40 Sovereign. After a few years of ownership, it has the Supercharged AJ16 from the X300 XJR, along with the entire wiring harnesses, HVAC system, and interior from the X300. I even swapped the X300 heated windshield.
The front and rear subframes with all their suspension components are also XJR items, with polybushes everywhere and the XJR front and rear anti-roll bars. The differential is a short-geared N/A version, and I have the Getrag 290 manual box. I also have the rare factory body kit from the Series II XJ40 XJR.
Save for the body work and painting, I've done all the work myself. The grooves into which the XJ40 door seals fit were removed, allowing the use of X300 doors with their superior seals. This also required the modification of the front fenders/wings as the edge near the door is a slightly different shape on X300s vs the 40. Of course, I retained the factory metal Xj40 door handles, so the untrained eye wouldn't see a difference.
The engine was disassembled and put together with new timing chains, tensioners, and gaskets. I have yet to fire it up for the first time, as I haven't finished connecting the fuel and cooling systems yet. Can't wait though... :-) Here are a few images from before it was painted:

It occurred to me recently that the only body panel that was on the car when I purchased it was the front left fender/wing. Every other element was replaced at one point or another due to rust or other damage.

Unfortunately I haven't had much time over the months to work on the car, but here is the progress I've made since the last post.
The suspension is sitting on coilovers that I made myself using some Koni shocks for an XJ40, the wheels are on and I've sorted out the wiring for the most part. The car runs on a 4.0 XJR auto ECU, but as the ignition will be retarded without the TCU I'm contemplating using a 3.2 manual ECU which I have and correcting the fuel and ignition maps with a piggyback type controller.
I had problems starting the car at first because the fuel pressure regulator was stuck after laying in my basement for a year, and I couldn't figure out the cause.
