Smile a brace of Jags

Hi everyone,
I have had a S type 3 litre petrol saloon for a few years now, and enjoyed it hugely, but we also go on long driving holidays and stay places for which we have owned an estate/ station wagon for carry things in. I was using Volvo estates, but all the the more recent V70s I have looked at seem to have gearbox problems, so I was looking for an alternative. I also wanted it diesel for the mpg - my S type can get 30 mpg, but on a long journey that can get pricey. I have opted for a X type diesel estate (sportswagon as it's called in the USA) - a 2008 with average mileage but a known fault that meant it was cheap. My thoughts were to have the money spare to spend on the repairs. Whether my gamble will have paid off I shall find out fairly soon as the car is in the garage (not the dealers) to be diagnosed and repaired as well as serviced. It won't be as nice to drive as my old S type, but at 50+ mpg it should save me some of the cost of refuelling. More as I find out more about this 'new' X type.

Welcome to the forums Alex,

Good to have you with us.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum and this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' threads at the top are a good place to start for information on regular issues. I can see you've already posted in the UK & Eire Region forum so no need for a link to it from me.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
