Buying my first Jag
Can somebody answer a quick question for a newbie please? I am looking at purchasing a 2002 XJ Sport - of which I looked at several before coming upon one I that will make me write the check.
Of all the ones I have previously viewed, the grill was colored the same as the body. This particular XJ sport has a chrome grill... owner says its original, wondering if there's been some body part replacement - due to accident. Door handles and trunk trim ARE body colored.
Can anyone ease my concern? Was there a factory Chrome Grill option on the XJ Sport?

WHILE I WONT SAY ITS IS AN OPTION, MANY TIMES TRIM LIKE THAT IS CHANGED BY THE DEALER FOR SOMEONE WHO LIKES THE CHROME, JUST LIKE NOW HOOD LEAPERS ARE NO LONGER FACTORY INSTALLED, BUT INSTALLED BY THE DEALER AT THE CUSTOMERS REQUEST, (AND PAYMENT OF COURSE)

Hi corey n welcome to our site. XJ Sport is a beautiful ride, you're very lucky.
As stated, it could just have been the preference to add the chrome at a later stage as has been done / undone on many x types on here recently......does not have to mean its been accident damaged.
Have you done a car check on it? These usually throw up if its been accident damaged and or any ourtstanding finance etc etc.

car fax was very clean - fist quick inspection looked good - there has been body work done to front fender, but done well... if they would have taken a bit more time wetsanding I would have never noticed. Love the car, and well worth the $

corey, if you really want to check use a paint meter, and usually overspray on body seem edges can never fully go away... also does it have chrome trim around the windows? i believe XJ sports had chrome window trip while XJRs did not, this could go hand in hand with chrome grille trim
