Hi gents,

also joining the fold and some months ago bought a X350 2.7 in the uk.
had been one of the cheapest facelift models around with decent 80K miles on it. brake discs and pads had been soso. no belts had been changed.
some bushes had been shot but in general the car had been driving ok.

do have some experience with british cars so it is nothing new that there are some areas that need to be fixed especially if you buy cheap. thought it would be a nice change and sold my BMW f11 530D wagon and got the JAG.

In the meantime we did quite some work on the car :

changed all the bushes to powerflex
changed both egrīs
changed trans fluid
changed both belts
and some other bits and pieces

the biggest difference for me is the suspension on the XJ. the car feels realy nice on the autobahn also at higher speeds but what it does not like is short bumps in a row. this remembers me more like of a sports car than a cruiser. currently looking for a fault with the washer pump not spraying fluid on the screen and the gearshift 1-2-3 is quite harsh.

have read about a software update that should address this issue but maybe i am wrong ? currently have the vx diag nano to read out the codes and do some diagnosis on the car. did recalibrate the ride height once we had the bushes done. in the workshop manual is stated that the car lowers itself 15mm above speeds of 170kmh. is there any chance this could be changed to a different value letīs say 160 or 180 ?

cheers

Gerd

thanks for the warm welcome

it has this kind of understatement and attraction non of the other big brands has.
the X350 ist the last classic JAG i like. all the other newer models are of course nice but not my cup of tea. up to date could not find a decent set of sepang wheels for but the reular 19" will do the job for now. also unsure as 20" with low profile tires look good but ride quality also with 19" is soso. when i had my bmw i ran it on 17". it felt like a boat but was quite comfortable on long runs on the autobahn.

next job will the gearbox hard shift issue, the water pump for the windscreen washers and to readjust the rooftop due to wind noise.

cost wise i canīt complain. most expensive had been the powerflex bush kit for the car but the rest was not more expensive as any other bmw standard parts.

have put some cash aside in case of any damper problems but up to date no faults of any kind. insurance is even cheaper as with the bmw and so far i can tell it was a great buy
