Welcome,
I think we can safely assume you have a 2005 XK8.
DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) controls the antiLock braking, traction and yaw control systems of the vehicle. More complex than the earlier 4.0 litre systems, the amber DSC warning is quite a regular error on the 4.2 models.
You don't say whether the vehicle is new to you, if this is the first time it's happened or whether you've had the codes read.
Suggest you head on to the XK8/XKR section with this question. Norri has already suggested battery which is the most likely (these vehicles are especially sensitive to battery condition and charge) and dirty wheel speed sensors would be next suspect in line.

Yes, I have a 2005 XK 8, that I bought a year ago.
I have had intermittent check engine light. A few weeks ago and had codes read, and it was the mass air sensor. We removed and it was very
clean, so reset codes and seemed to meet the standards.
The other day drove about 70 miles on the interstate at 70 mph and that evening while driving on surface streets, all the codes came on, but that limp mode was scary. Thinking about that happening in the fast lane on the I 95 and how to get out of traffic at 5 mph.
Warning lights are easy to deal with, but losing power is my biggest concern. Never happened to me in all my 40 years of driving mnay cars.
Will try cleaning wheel sensors, which I have not done.
The check engine light never came on, when all this happened.
I appreciate your detailed response.

After I looked harder under the hood, I found my air intake duct, was deteriorating. The section which flexes had many holes in it.
I had it to a mechanic a few weeks ago, when my check engine light came on and the mechanic checked the mass flow sensor.
He said it seemed to be fine and after reset was performing fine.
He Missed the air flow duct falling apart right near the sensor he removed and inspected. The sensor was perfectly clean.
I repaired the holes with some tape made to fix pipes under pressure
and hopefully that stays until, I find a replacement.
Concerned about buying used one, while this is only 7 years old.
Never have seen this happen to plastic.
Now I wonder if my limp mode came on due to this problem.
Wanted to insert picture, but does not allow me to paste.
How do I insert a picture of the part?

Be interesting to see the failure on the intake trunking. Suggest you post it on the XK8/XKR section for a wider response.

Spoke to my Jag mechanic, he said he has only seen about 6 failures of this air intake, in many years of fixing only Jags. My guess is there was some defective plastic when produced. Next task to find one at a reasonable price. Car ran perfectly yesterday..no warning lights. Fingers crossed. Will try to post on XK8/XKR. Actually, I thought this is where I have been posting, so I am confused.
Thanks,

You might want to source a used part. It's an expensive piece of plastic if this is typical:
Jaguar XK8 Air Intake Hose - Free Shipping - OES Genuine
You're presently posting in New member Area - INTRO a must section. Scroll down to Jaguar Models and then to XK8 / XKR 1996 to 2006 section. This is where to find all the info on your model and to post questions.

That link got me a brand new OES intake pipe for $105. delivered free. no tax.
A little slow on shipping, but mine is ok for now with the tape.
Thanks so much.
Dealer price was $162 less 20% =130 plus sales tax...
Appreciate the savings
Didnt want to risk a used one falling apart and savings wouldnt be enough.

did you find out what the issue is
I had the same thing happen and I shut car off twice na d haven't had the problem but I don't want to ever happen again
Can it be battery? Gas? sensors?
Thank YOu
My air duct plastic pipe, had holes in the airea where the flex section is.
My Jag mechanic missed it, I saw it.
I taped it up for now and ordered new one on line.
Some members state a weak battery can do it.

I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago in my 2005 VDP after a 400 mile road trip. I had some other error messages, too, including the check engine light, but after I topped off all of the fluids and took it in for an overdue oil change, I haven't had any other problems! Make sure all of your weekly/monthly maintenance is done before taking it to a dealer, who will just go by the error messages and charge you a fortune!
