Default Duplicate keys

I have just bought a 1987 XJ6 Series III....Excellent condition ...everything works...I think...But only one ignition key. I have the key number but have no idea what to do with it. I could get one made but don't want to put the only key I have in the mail...Any ideas? Having trouble finding a locksmith to help me locally. I have a blank.

Welcome to the Forums.

We are lucky, obviously, every shopping centre (mall) has a key cutting service, done while you wait.

Good luck.

Hello, Jack,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
I don't think I would put my only key in the mail either. You might have to look farther afield to find a walk-in locksmith willing to cut your blank. I had to drive 30 miles, but then had 3 sets made.

I'll look for you over in our Series 1, 2, 3 playroom.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Default Duplicate keys

To those who sent ideas I thank you. I found a local locksmith in our city that's been in business since 1913 and there isn't a computer in sight. Like stepping back in time. Had blanks for both keys and made three of each. Total price $25....Next Problem ...getting the radio to work on my '87 Series III XJ6....I have the code number and have tried everything ...but it still won't work. Ideas?

Thanks for the suggestion..I tried them of course..apparently the old key blanks won't cooperate with the laser equipment...frightens it I think.....The old machinery won through....

If the radio code was previously entered incorrectly you have to keep the radio turned on for an hour before you can attempt re-entering the code.
