Just took ownership of a used 2000 xjr, black/black. I bought well aware of a CEL and restricted performance, (knocksensor). Thought id be parking the car until i could have the knocksensor replaced, but the first thing i did was fill her with 91 premium and bottle of injector cleaner, after a few hours of light joyriding, CEL cleared itself-power restored. wow, and i got this car for a super deal because someone was putting crappy gas in it and not driving it. SUPER STOKED. def gonna do tune up soon tho.

Congratulations on the XJR. Good to hear it was such a simple resolution to the CEL issue.

The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

yea check engine light is back on, however does not seem to be running in restricted mode even though the message is displayed for a sec when cel comes on..(revs and pulls past 3000, and power still adequate) codes are "running rich", and "knocksensor" Thanks everyone and it looks like the dealer will see me sooner than later.
