Smile Entering Jaguar world (from ford territory)

Two weeks ago bought a 2001 S-Type with just 68450 miles.
The car has been sitting in a garage in Beverly hills the last 4 years.
No body damage, good leather inside, overall more than expected condition.
Won't start due to shorted fuel pump ( and blown related fuse )
After replacement of those parts car run fine and I been able to take it home (15 miles )
All fluid checked (added) no spills, no leaks at all.
Fuel flushed, half tank added.
Rubber parts seem mostly good.
The only problem right now is the P0430 (catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 2))
Found some oil in the driver side spark plug wells, up to half of the spark plug, cleaned.
Valve cover set ordered plus a whole set of spark plugs and ignition coils (Fel-Pro set, Autolite XP iridium and URO coils)
Now waiting for parts to arrive to start replacing parts and hopefully avoid the catalytic converter replacement
The suspension feels somehow flimsy. After fixing the emission trouble (and get a SMOG) will start fixing the suspension (bushings, ball joints, etc.)
For now, just reading all posts related to my problems (a lot of help !)
Thank to everybody !

Welcome to the Forums.

Strongly suggest a trans fluid drop and refill at that mileage.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums dauraf,

The P0430 is more likely to be a Bank 2 HO2 sensor or sensor harness issue than a Cat fault so good luck there.

I can see you've already found your way to the S-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
