Cool Finally got another JAG!

Hey all,

Just joining up since I finally won an auction for a 'new to me' Jag. Picked up a 2000 XKR convertible with REALLY low miles (23k) from the Texas auctions. I'm expecting delivery Friday from the shipping company and I hope it matches the pictures. (super clean white interior, well detailed engine bay small dent in the front cowling/edge of hood, tan top) Course. it is a salvage title from the floods, and says it doesn't run, but who doesn't need a challenge!!! (it does have electrical power, as the dash was lite up.)

In 1998 I picked up a 91 XJ6 that I LOVED. Course, living in Minnesota at the time, with a rear wheel drive sedan wasn't ideal (as my only car). but I made it work until it got backed into while dropping my child at daycare. (that was the same week someone tried to twist the cat off the hood) So the mangled hood, driver side severely dented amazing ride went out in trade on a new pickup. I remember all to clearly thinking something had to be wrong with the ride on the pickup as I bounced down the interstate. Course, once I reminded myself that I just stepped out of a Jaguar...........

So, I'm betting once it arrives I'll post some pictures and likely be looking for advise - if the basics don't get it running. Myself and a few friends have been buying auction cars for a few years now and we aren't afraid to wrench. (right now, both my kids cars, my pickup and a 09 Galant for my daughters best friend are in the driveway from auction houses). Collectively we've bought 12-13 cars in the past year to rebuild/sell/help friends out with lower dollar vehicles. Next up this spring is building a new garage with a lift to make this A LOT easier!!!

So, Happy to be here, looking forward to getting to know some of you and sharing the joy that is JAGUAR!

Jared

Welcome to the forum Jared,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I thought this was extremely 'brave' until I got down as far as the list of your other auction buys. Your track record suggests this latest one will soon be running.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

GGG 'brave' = omg.. here we go again with an idiot!!!

I was reading the 3 pager from farmr? who has a 97 xk8 that will crank and won't fire. Yea, I'm not going to compete with his knowledge/ability to electrically troubleshoot. And i'm also aware that I can/could/likely will be in for the learning curve the hard way. I also have to say, wow, the level of advice, and solid ideas on that thread are amazing. (let alone the documents that were shared). I'm fairly well versed in DC wiring. I have a low voltage licence, work in telecom and have access and knowledge of the test equipment.

Rick and Randy, my friends and the true heavy lifters mechanically, have been rebuilding cars for the last 40 years. (so I have solid local help that way) To me, part of the joy of ownership is putting in the time and energy to make it work. It's why I love driving 'ol blue' a 2002 GMC sierra that was my first (bad) attempt at body work. (crashed front end, looks GREAT now from 1/4 mile). My 30' Chris Craft was "less then perfect" and was amazing from 300 yards or more!

So yep, I bought a non-running super clean, low miles 2000 XKR a the right price point. A Car I've always wanted. (in truth, i'd have preferred a coupe, but...) and am looking forward to hearing that supercharger wind up! (and I'm in Iowa, so 3 months until rear wheel drive weather!)

Welcome to the forums.
Very nice looking car. You'll love getting it out on the highway.
I left Michigan for California many years ago. Just after the sun went down I stopped and spent the night in Iowa. I took pictures out of the windshield the whole way.
Good luck with it.

YES - Signature changes appear with your NEXT post and NOT immediately. This catches out a lot of members.
