Default First Jag purchase today. Broke down :(

Hi, Jag enthusiasts. I've posted my huge issue on the XJ40 area. Hopefully, someone can help me there...or here. After wanting a Jag all of my life, I finally purchased one from an individual on the old e-bay machine. The '94 XJ6 has 83,000 miles on her and is in pretty good condition, or so I thought. On my way home from purchasing her, she broke down on a major highway, not 15 miles from the seller's home I just couldn't believe it. My first Jag and it breaks down within 20 minutes of driving it. It started sputtering on the highway, so I drove her onto the shoulder, and, as it was sputtering and loosing power, got her almost to an exit. The engine stopped. I tried to restart her, but she wouldn't kick over. I then looked in the engine bay and there seemed to be oil coming from under the 5th cylinders spark plug wire. I cleaned the oil off area around the spark plug wire, reattached it to the 5th cylinder's spark plug and tried to start her again. She wouldn't turn over. I took another gander at the engine - now there seemed to be oil around the 3rd, 4th AND 5th cylinder spark plug wires. I took the wires off and discovered oil with the spark plug housing/holes. It looked to be bubbly.
I stopped messing around with the Jag and had her towed back to the sellers home and returned to my abode. Now what do I do??? Caveat emptor, I know!!! The seller now has my money AND the car and I have the title. Would anyone know what the problem with the Jag may be??? I really want to keep her!!!! Any advise would be greatly appreciated. This is not a good way to start my Jaguar experience

Welcome to the forum unforgiven,

The worst way to start your Jaguar experience.

I see the guys are already responding to your post in the XJ40 section and I'll be following events there.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum and good luck.

Graham

Welcome to the forums! I know of the car you purchased. Did you get everything figured out? Can I ask what ended up happening? Chin up! This is a great family to be part of!
