Default Frustrated Jag owner

Owned my 94 jag for about a year now. Bought it with 63000 miles on it. 70500 now and I am having issues with it. Intermittently shakes when driving. It will be fine for a day and then really bad the next day at all speeds. Engine light is on and code reads Fail Fuel 39.

Took it to my mechanic. He put it on diagnostic and nothing showed up. He balanced and rotated tires took.it for a.test drive and said it road fine. I pick it up and it begins shaking at 30 miles per hour and engine light is back on.

Any advice as to what it could be. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum rosco59,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Interesting your mechanic would think the intermittent shaking was from out of balance wheels! FF39 is a regular and, as you have found, also a frustrating issue. Check this thread:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ircuit-103786/

Follow this link XJ40 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the main XJ40 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Welcome.

Other things in my head are:

Trans fluid really OLD, so trans judder is causing some shaking?
Tailshaft centre bearing has a failed rubber mounting, which causes a real bad vibration, and sometimes a banging sound on acceleration.
Engine mounts are just plain OLD, all 3 of them.

Obviously the EGR code has something to with what is there, but we dont have EGR systems down here, so no idea what it would cause the engine to do when it fails.

Hello there. I am new to the forum. I did post a few threads since I joined last week. Great responses from some forum members. I originally listed myself as Frustrated Jag Owner, but truth is I love my 94 xj6. Its my daily driver!
Thanks again!
