Gidday from Perth West Aust
Hi All
Well I’ve been a bit of a lurker on this forum for a while now, ever since I decided last year it was time to add a Jaguar to the motley collection of not so classic cars. I’ve long been an admirer of the marque, but a long, and continuing, relationship with Alfa Romeos and Land Rovers has delayed Jaguar ownership.
I’ve found a wealth of information here which has made the task of selecting a vehicle much easier, so a big thank you to all the forum members for their posts and contributions.
After a long hunt and looking at everything from 1980’s series 3 and XJS coupes to XJ40 and X300 sedans, I’ve finally purchased a very nice, Australian delivered, 1994 XJ12 in Solent Blue with Doeskin leather. It’s the last XJ81 model with twin airbags and has only travelled 110k. The Kms are supported by an excellent service history, including a large number of invoices and log book stamps from well-known Jaguar specialists.
As is commonly the case in Western Australia, one has to travel to find a good car, in this case almost 3,500km to Melbourne in the eastern states.
It then spent just over 2 weeks on a car transport to get to Perth, finally arriving while I was overseas in Vietnam. My son received the car and was most suitably impressed.
When I returned it was off to a local Jaguar specialist who has looked after my Land Rovers for many years, to prepare for registration. Except for a dirty underside he could find no faults with the car and she passed the inspection first time.
Last weekend was time to get start getting familiar and take her for a good drive. She drives unlike any other car I have owned. Not at all delicate, needs a firm hand, but is soooo smooth and can still boogie when required, keeping the rice burners and P plate Commodore drivers in their place.
Pics and more words to follow in the Australian WA sub forum
Cheers
Steve

Thanks all for the welcome and thanks Jim for upgrading my access. Its nice that the forum uses the same system as the Land Rover forum AULRO.com, so I feel right at home moving around and have already started on my signature line.
Lady Penelope's pics can be found in the following thread in the West Australian Regional Forum.

As I get familiar with her I'll add to the thread, but so far she is behaving (as he grasps a huge plank of timber with both hands )
Cheers

Welcome to Jaguar Forums
Welcome Steve . . . and greetings from the east coast. Your XJ12 sounds a real cracker (Miss Penelope. eh?). I can't wait to jump over to the WA regional section to follow up on your interesting intro.
It's great to have you join us here on JaguarForums, and I do trust you find your experience here to be one of friendships and helpful technical support. Your LR background will be a definite benefit - provided you had one of the very rare V12 Land Rovers - not sure they ever came in Solent Blue - such a beautiful colour.
So Steve, all that remains is to see you dive in . . . and enjoy,
Ken
