Default Greetings

Hello All-

New to the Forum. Hope I am not violating any protocols.

Past Series III owner: '87 XJ6. About to jump back in, and wondered if I could ask you for your considered opinions.

I am looking -- at present -- at three vehicles: all have been dealer maintained: seen CarFax on two (attached). And they really did all receive the regular scheduled maintenance. I will have my own indy Jag do a pre-buy inspection on whichever ones proceed to the next step. They are all one-owner cars -- verified.

But, just on the surface, how do these strike you? In order of preference. Thanks.

1996 XJ6 Red 113,351 $7995.00 Dealer 5398 miles per year
Note: I would not be paying that price, it is just what the dealer is asking.
Lady owned this. CarFax and Image attached.

2004 XJ8 Gold 79.603 $7800 Private Seller 6123 miles per year
91-year old woman owned this and son is selling because, while she can drive, she can't always find her way back home. She agreed to the sale. He does not want to keep it because he lives on a ranch and does not have proper storage for the car.

Image attached.

2005 XJ8L Grey 119,000 $6600 Private Seller 9917 miles per year
Belonged to a doctor and it was regularly serviced. Not sure what kind of driving, but must have been some highway miles.

CarFax and Image attached.

Thank you in advance for your time.

Doug

They're all pretty cars, so you'll have to sit in each one (for more than 3 seconds) and see which one 'talks' to you. I've never gone wrong choosing a car that way.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome.

The X300 does it for me, and would be the easiest to live with. MY opinion, nothing more.

Price, nah, not that brave, ya pay what ya pay.

Welcome to the forum Doug,

Three well chosen examples - I can't comment on the asking prices as in the US they are way above what we would have to pay in the UK. It all comes down to which you prefer and what your Indy sees needs to be done.

The first two stand out for me. Most likely purchased because their owners really wanted a Jaguar. A doctor driving a 12 year old car - I'd steer clear of his vehicle and his medical expertise.

Enjoy the forums and let us know your eventual choice.

Graham

Thanks to you all for the welcome.

And thank you for the comments about the cars.

The Gold X350 is gone. It went online Wednesday night. I called Thursday, was second in the queue. First in the queue was supposed to see the car Friday, but Seller had some emergency procedure. Found out tonight it sold. Don't know for what price.

Will keep you posted.

Doug
