Greetings from Cali
Good day/evening,
(location dependent salutation because y'all live everywhere) I'm new to this forum and to the wonderful world of Jaguar. Bought a "it was running fine when I parked it" 2000 XJ8L. Immobilizer forgot the keys plus car only had one. I ran through a the wiring prior to calling locksmith. First, start went knock, knock, knock! Found four bad rod bearings. Did not check the mains. Crank is toast. Enjoy working on the XJ8. Everything is well engineered and straight forword, just wish there was a little more room for my meat hooks. Have learned a lot from reading the various posts. Thanks for that. Will recipacate when able.
Bit about me. Know my way around the toolbox. Don't quite move as fast as I use too. Have way too many projects compared to available time and funds. I didn't let a little thing like that stop me from picking up the XJ8.

Welcome to the forum Byron,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
The usual failure on the Jaguar V8 is warped heads from overheating so finding a used engine with a good bottom end should be a lot easier and cheaper than a replacement crank and a rebuild ........
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
