Default Greetings from Minnesota!

Just wanted to perform my due diligence and introduce myself. I'm a long-time Lincoln owner, and particularly partial to the Lincoln Mark VIII.

With my Mark tucked away for the winter, I got to browsing "interesting" cars, and thought to myself "what could be more interesting than a Jaguar?" As destiny would have it, I spotted a 1993 XJ6 locally, for a price that was simply too good to turn down.

As Minnesota cars go, I'd call it "particularly clean" but by no means perfect. ~95k miles, and a pretty nice interior. I've started making a list of the "to fix" items, but know better than to list that here.

I know very little about Jaguars in particular, so I am looking forward to learning a lot here. I'll happily accept any tips/advice/info all of you have to offer. As it is, she runs and drives beautifully, and the cabin has already proven to be a supremely comfortable place to spend time. I'm definitely looking forward to logging some highway miles in this car. She's built to cruise, for sure.

I've attached a couple photos, but it should be noted that this is after only a quick run through the local car wash. I expect to get some additional shine in the near future. I also see that I forgot to tidy up that driver's seat-belt prior to the photo.. go easy on me.

Mike

Welcome to the forums Mike,

Good to have you with us.

Jaguar produced so many different models badged XJ6 between 1968 and 2009 that the factory, dealers and this forum use the factory codes to distinguish them. The 1986-1994 model factory code is XJ40. Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-xj81-25/ to the XJ40 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

I appreciate the tips on the nomenclature, as well as the signature. This post will be the first test of the latter. I'm sure I'll get a photo in there sooner or later, also.

I should clarify that the lighting in the photo is a bit misleading. The car is definitely a deep "British Racing" green. I'm curious to learn if Jaguar calls it that. This will be my 3rd "green" car, so I'm definitely happy with the choice. You just don't see much color at all these days.

Overall, it's a pretty rare car where I am, and it's elicited some entertaining commentary from friends and co-workers. "I guess /you/ don't need that raise!" I'm definitely having fun so far.

Jaguar offered several greens on the XJ40:

Alpine Green - HES
Brooklands Green - HFB
Jade Green - HEV
Jaguar Racing Green - HEN
Moorland Green - HET

The three-letter codes are the Paint Codes. The paint and trim codes should be on a manufacturer's label on the driver's door post.

Exactly the kind of data I'm here for. In my case, the winner is HFB - Brooklands Green.

Thank you, Graham!
Now I have to look up the others, and decide which one I wish I had instead.
