Hello from Wisconsin
Hello, I purchased my 1987 Jaguar XJ6 in crimson red with tan leather last fall as a summer weekend car. The car has 64K original miles. It is my first jaguar, but fourth European car (previously, I owned a few Saabs and Porsche). it's amazing the type of interest this car gets no matter where I bring it from kids to seniors. My son remarked the other day that he thought it was one of the nicest cars he had ever seen (of course he is 13 and is already thinking of driving soon). It is a true classic.
Unfortunately, it has sat for several years and time, the elements, and mice have done some damage. It is a fixer-upper for sure, but I couldn't pass it up the price I paid. I'm now in the process of going through the car and brining her a bit more up to date whenever I can find the time. The good news is that everything works down to the power antenna.
I'm glad to have found this forum and look forward to using it for reference, etc.

Welcome to the forum Mike,
Your 1987 could be a late Series III or and XJ40...... both of which were badged as 'XJ6'
Follow this link XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ6 Series III section or this one XJ40 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ40 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Hi Graham,
Thanks, and great point about the standard "XJ6", mine is a late series III. I believe one of the last off of the line, some of the dates I have found on the car show around September '87.

The Series III looks in fine condition. They don't last like that over here.
Graham
Thanks, it does have some rust issues left to fix, but not as bad as others I have seen here in the Midwest.
