Default Greetings from Salt Lake City

Just recently bought a 2010 XK. Love the car, in spite of all the all powerful computer running everything. Well, almost running. There are a few glitches like the tire pressure monitor almost always coming on, the fuel guage reading dropping to zero at random times, minor annoyances like that.

Actually had another problem crop up today. Was driving home, a few blocks from my house. Stopped at a red light. Light goes green, I take my foot off the brake, give it a bit of gas and nothing happens. The car just sits there like it is in neutral. I look down at the roary know ( another problem area ) and the D light is blinking. I switch to neutral, back to drive, and it pulls away just fine. Wonder if this behaviour is a warning of bad things to come?

Anyway, I've owned the car for 6 months now, put about 5,000 miles on it, several club drives. Probably time for an oil change. I'm 71 years old with a bad back, will probably let a shop take care of that.

The "roary know" in my post should be "rotary knob" in case you haven't figured that out. And that's another problem. When first test driving the car the knob refused to pop up one time. Makes it difficult, but not impossible to change gear. But on the next test drive it worked. And it usually works, but every now and then fails to pop up. Easy to turn to R and N, but a real pain to coax into D with the knob down. I'll have to look into it more soon. Maybe just a spray of electrical contact cleaner around the side of the knob might help, though I doubt it.

Hello, MJB,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar! I'm sorry it has hair ***** already.
I was wondering what "Roary Know" was!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the Forums.

Fill the Geer fridge, ya gonna need it.

NOT the Tech section of course, but BAD EARTHS have plagued Jaguar since the 60's.

Good luck.
