Default Hello

Hello!
I am new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I recently purchased a neglected 1988 Hess and Eisenhart convertible. It's a bit rough around the edges on spots but is an overall nice car. This is my first Jaguar and I've been trying to read up and learn more about it. I am a bit handy and can handle most of the mechanicals. The pretty things I will have to out source.

I've always wanted a v12 car, and I've always been a fan of Jaguars. I was looking for a coupe when this one came along. For the price I couldn't turn it down. I am looking forward to adding to the 56000 miles on the odometer.

Welcome to the forums Beachy,

That doesn't look anywhere near the same level of "neglected" as some that our members have brought back to life and, if it's always been a Southwest vehicle, you won't have the rust terrors that challenge owners in wetter climates.

I can see you've already found your way to the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you again for the tips! I havent been able to find any rust, so I believe it has been in the southwest for a long time. It has been in storage for a long time, that I can tell. The clearcoat is coming off on the rear deck, and the wood trim is cracked. The leather needs some rest restitching as well. It does run and drive though. The idle surges, so I want to get that fixed. I found a guy out of Florida that I'm getting the interior trim for. Overall, it's not too bad for 1500 bucks. I just couldn't say no at that price.
