Default Hello!

Back in the early 80's, when I was a teenager, my Dad was building the odd kit car. One trip to the Stoneleigh show was memorable for the jaw dropping incarnation of a Cobra replica with a V12 Jag, velocity stacks pointing skywards and everything. I've wanted one ever since.

Well, my drive now hosts a very beaten up and phenomenally rusty 1978 XJS that was last taxed, and by all accounts last ran, in 1989. So I'm half way to my Cobra! I've got it turning over on the starter, and I'm working towards seeing if I can get it to run. Before tearing it down and throwing the shell away.

I have some form with this sort of thing, on a much, much smaller scale, having been entirely besotted my whole life with Mini's. I've never built a kit, but I've done a couple or three rebuilds. I'm no stranger to swinging a spanner. I have a selection of welders and grinders too, and I'm not afraid to use them! Although sometimes I probably should be...

Anyway, wanted to say hi, I'll more than likely have quite a few questions...

Thanks for listening
Andy

Welcome to the Forums.

Have not seen a V12 in a Mini, YET, could be interesting.

Just kidding.

Good luck with the Cobra.

Hello Andy

Now this sounds like an interesting project and is certainly thinking outside the box, not exactly sure where the build photo's belong on the forum but it certainly sounds like something I would love to follow.

Back in the 90's, someone I knew did a V8 in the mini trick, with extremely fat tires up the back and low enough for your hands to touch the ground through the open window and closed door. It did really well at Summernats that year (annual hot rod show here in Australia).

Welcome to the forum

Cheers
Steve

Thanks Steve,

I'm looking at putting build log on a Wordpress site. I'll post a link when it's up.

Hello Andy

Been following your thread for your Cobra Build and noticed you are trying to off-load stuff on ebay. You also mention that you will junk them if there's no interest.

Before you junk them - if you can mention the parts you have on the forum - it would be appreciated. Sometimes we don't know we need something until we see it

Cheers
Steve

So the Wordpress site was a bust, I'm struggling for time to work on the car, never mind write about it! Also, the server I was running it on died, and I've not found the roundtuit required to get it back up yet...

I have made progress though, the Jag is mostly stripped now and some of the stuff I'm not planning on using has found its way to eBay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/andypstev/m.html

More stuff with be going up as I go, but if anyone's looking for something specific that isn't engine or running gear related, let me know I'll see if I've got it. Sure we can come to some arrangement.
