Default Please advise

Hello all, I just purchased my first Jaguar, 02 STS V8. It is running pretty rough and will only rev to 3000RPM and is very sluggish trying to reach highway speed. I managed to get it home by feathering the gas pedal and using a very light foot.
The only code coming up on the dash is CATS Fault and an intermittent engine light.
Please advise on possible fix for these problems. I am a fair mechanic and would like advise on how to change the plugs etc.
Thank you for any time and advise.

Welcome to the forums Rnanc44,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already found where I moved your first post to the S-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
In the process of correcting this problem, you'll learn a Ton about your new cat, and by the time you're finished, the two of you will be well and truly bonded.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thank you, I’d love a short tutorial on changing the spark plugs to resetting the ECU. Also possible diagnosis on why she’s only reving up to 3000 rpm. Very sluggish on getting up to speed on the way home. She does start right up however a very rough idle. I’m praying that these are minor problems that a tune up will remedy. Her past life must have been full of neglect.
I do want to thank one and all for any help.

Cheers and happy motoring

What DTCs are stored in the system?

What is the battery voltage across the terminals with the ignition in the OFF position when checked with a voltmeter?
