I am the new owner of a 2000 S-type Jaguar 4.0. I have owned it for about a week and It currenty sits in the driveway awaiting a new (APP) sensor. Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor.
3 days after purchasing the car I recieved a amber Failsafe engine mode, Not yet educated on jaguar I was let down. Upon some research and determination I pulled the p-codes and and discovered the fault. Somewhat relieved I call the dealership for the part and it's $475 for a brand new one. It should be here thursday and I will start over trying to enjoy my Jag!

If I were you, I'd take it back to the dealer and have THEM pay for the fix.

Here are 2 pictures I just went to take. Once the weather is nice here she will get a full detail. I have yet to look and see what the actual color of the vehicle is listed as. Almost like a sapphire blue.
