Default Hello from Cornwall, England

54yrs old, 200 + BHP, 125mph, 5 seats & Disc brakes all round - I just love my 3.8 Mk2 !
I reckon one of the best looking British Sports Saloons ever made. Sounds awesome & it smells of rubber, leather wood & petrol!
What more could a bloke want !

Thank you Graham,

Glad to be aboard!

The links will be useful in finding my way around the site so thanks. Had my first Mk 2 in late sixties but also run daily a 3.2 1997 308 Sport which I love for different reasons (mainly grunt!) so my interests are varied. It has been in the family for most of it's life.

Looking forward to some ineresting reading.

All the very best

Pete

What a Wonderful specimen!
That's the thing about Classic Jaguars; the Smell!
They DON'T smell like plastic or formaldehyde, they smell like Leather; and Wood; and Wool Carpet; Warm Engine; with Slight undertones of boiling Carburetor, warm oil and hot tires.

They smell like a Proper Car!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thanks for the welcom LnrB - You've hit the nail on the head! (That's why she's still got her original leather seats & fibre sound deadening mats under the wool carpets). Once you remove them & retrim a car you lose all those original smells of the sixties.

When I tuck her up in the garage after a run, before closing the door I love to take a deep sniff of the 'essence of jag' that is wafting up through the warm bonnet (hood) louvres. Oh!, pure heaven - thinking actually of marketing a deodorant spray of it for men - do you think it would sell ?.

Um, maybe, but if you could get a Room Fragrance, so I could spray it around the garage when not driving the car, THAT I would go for! LOL

Welcome.

I remember those smells so well with previous Jags, and it is a "Special" odour for sure.

The current 2 are boring in that area.

Well done.

Thanks Grant,

Nostalgia is good but I think the non-aromatic variety of Jags have a different level of sophistication - I think they call it 'Horses for Courses'

The other thing is whilst the aroma of the Mk2 is lovelly, if I drive it too much I end up smelling like an 'Old Jag' myself !

Pete,

Your SigPic isn't showing. The usual reason for this is exceeding the size limits. The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 100 pixels or 9.8 KB (whichever is smaller).
