Default hello everyone!

My name is Jim and I am from Lake City, Florida.
I just recently purchased a 1999 Jaguar XK8 convertible and have been loving it!
I am lucky to have a very good local mechanic who can be very creative and has treated me wonderfully.
But, we both need some help.
The hydraulic cylinders for my convertible top need to be replaced and my mechanic is having trouble accessing them.
He tells me that they are sitting between two metal plates, one in front of the fuel tank and the other behind the rear seats.
He is not sure how to get to them.
Any suggestions at all would be very appreciated!
The nice weather is here and I miss my Jag!!
Please help!!
Thank you!

A late 'Welcome' to Jaguar Forums from me Jim.

I've been away driving my Jaguar across Europe and had no internet access.
