Hello Everyone 40 +year owner/ First time Poster
Cheers All
I have a long and unique association with Jaguar. My First jaguar was a D-type purchased new in 1957. I must come clean as I was 4, but it was a Lesney D-type which I informed my parents I must posses. It remains in the collection today after many hundred thousand miles on the rug and floor.
I saw my first E-type at Christmas on my way to see Santa in the park and shop. One of my neighbors it turns out. The love affair of a life time was begun.
Since then I have owned multiple E-types , XJ-6, XJ-S, and now 2003 S-type. I love all my children equally. My wife says more than her, but not so and must go on record.
I have had unique factory, and racing team access over the years and most recently enjoy a great relationship with RocketSports and Paul Gentilozzi. I have been published in Jaguar Racing (F1 website), Jaguar Magazine, JCNA, Racecar Engineering Motorsport.com and many others. Also attended
Jaguar University to write an article about them, however Ford shut it down before the article could be published.

After 40 years and really too many Jaguars to count, I am still in love with the vision of Sir William Lyons and his staff. I did my first factory tour in 1991 and watched XJ's and XJ-S's being built. I got an all day tour including the annex where Daimler Limousines were built, 6 cars at time, all by hand. Dealer Principles at that time got a 45 minute rush through. I was conducted on my journey through history by the chief historian Alistair who also had been fortunate to purchase the Last E-type off the line. I went through "Sleepy Hollow" the storage area for all the historic Jaguars not shown in the main gallery due to lack of space.
Not many Car companies keep their vision and DNA alive in the lines of their vehicles. They fall victim to the pressure to change for the sake of change, and not always for the better. Jaguar's founder, Sir William Lyons, had a vision from the begin of what his Motorcars should embody. Grace, Space and Pace just about sums it up. He would bring his body designs home to view them in natural setting as the local school boys watched over his fence. HE didn't change for the sake of change. His cars always improved under the skin. He realized the need for value for pound/dollar. He hand picked his designer carefully, Geoff Lawson, to carry his vision into the future. He was responsible for the XK8 series and the S-type. His premature death set the stage for Ian Callum to return from Aston Martin. The jury is still out. The S-type is the best selling Jaguar of all time. The current design vision has abandoned the DNA for a sort of Vodka Bar look of anybody else's sedans.
We'll see.....I hope for the best. It's my view that Jaguar needs a $30,000 entry level car to start the fire that leads to a lifelong desire to posses these Motorcars. My E-type OTS in 1970 started it all for me. There is no way a 25 year old can afford the entry level offering and the core previous Jaguar buyer may not be so ready to jump into the current line of cars. The F-type is a great looking and sounding car. The volume of its sales may help but can't carry the line of cars offered now. The next 5 years will reveal the future.
I love these cars and want to see the company prosper and continue. Those who are not students of history are doomed to repeat its' mistakes.
Wave to the other Driver of our Motorcars as you pass....Let's have that sense of family we once had.
