Hello Everyone from Knoxville TN
First things first: I want to say "Thank You" in advance for letting me join the group, for any helpful advice any of you may have and for your patience in teaching me what I need to know going forward.
I purchased this Jaguar 2 years ago in order to replace my Harley Davidson "Night Train", I just got tired of people trying to kill me on my bike. I had been riding a two wheeled motorized vehicle since I was 4 maybe 5 years old and I do miss it, but it just got to the point where it was not worth the risk.
So now for my enjoyment as well as my wife's, I have this wonderful, Black, Drop-Top, Tan Leather interior, 1997 XK8 V8 with 51,000 original miles on it. Other than having to service the A/C in the spring and changing the oil in the fall. I have not done a lot to the car.
The original owner told me the engine was replaced by the dealer, when around "24,000 miles" something in the engine failed ruining the original engine. It has been a true joy to drive, I will post photo's when I get it cleaned up and ready for this summers fun. I have only put maybe 3,500 miles on it since I got it. It's our weekend get out of the house and go car.
I am a decent "in my opinion" mechanic, as a young man (10 - 17 years old). I worked on old cars, motorcycle, bikes and old farm equipment before joining the U.S. Army in 1976. In the Army I was trained as a wheel and track mechanic, (among a lot of other thing). I got out in 1982.
I then became involved in civilian aviation as a fixed and rotor wing mechanic. I loved the Helicopters, the Bell's, Aerospatiale, McDonald Douglas all of them. I took pride in making them fly. I had a wonderful time traveling and working.
Then I fell in love and those days were, for the most part, over. "NOT THE WONDERFUL TIMES" just the traveling and working on helicopters all the time. I still have "Wonderful Times" with my wife.
These days I work on Generators, Air Compressor (Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Electrical systems) Small engines etc. It pays the bills and keeps me busy.
I need advice and guidance in/on replacing the rear wheel bearings on my Jag as they started making noise. Can one of you fine people point me in the right direction to the "HELP" section of the forum. I am sure someone has had and discussed this problem before. I am hoping to find directions, tips and solutions to the problems "I have not yet encountered" but most surely will when I start taking the car apart.
Again, I Thank You for your help and patience in advance.

Welcome,
WELL DONE.
I always change EVERY fluid on any "new to me" car, that way I know where the bench mark is.
Check those timing chain tensioners also, HEAPS of info on that in Grahams link.
Good luck.
