Default Hello Fellow Jaguar owners!

Hey, Wow super excited about this site. I have looked through A LOT of posts and everyone here seems extremely knowledgeable about Jaguars. So i had to make an account on here. Here is a little about myself.

I am 19 years old and attend college.

I just purchased a 2000 Jaguar S-type 4.0, from an old lady for $4,600 clams. It has 125,000 miles on it. But had the transmission changed out of it.

Kind of an irresponsible decision i bet you all are probably thinking but i just got off active duty from iraq and i just really really wanted this car.

It is my only car and i am in college and if something was to happen to this thing in a few ways i am completely out of luck. And i used a used car auto loan from my bank to get it.

So i am doing anything and everything i possibly could to keep this car at the great condition it is already in (from what i can see and i am not a professional mind you haha). I hope that you guys could possibly direct me on helpful tips on routine maintenance or just maybe tell me i am not jsut a irresponsible 19 year old with a crappy jaguar from 2000 haha. Any input would be great and Thank you for letting me join the jaguar family!

Best regards,
Wurz

Wurz, thanks for serving and welcome aboard. You are SUPPOSED to be irresponsible when you are 19. Not with borrowed funds mind you but gives you a few years to recover if it all goes to crap. After 125000 miles, you would hope any quirks have been worked out on your S-Type so now it's just making sure you maintain her appropriately.

Welcome wurz, although the early s-types did have some frequent issues, that doesn't mean your sample will fall apart on cue. Just remember, with that number of miles, there could me some more general maintenance than normal...coil packs, sensors, modules, etc. We can hope for the best, but be prepared for some expense as to not be surprised nor disappointed. Take good care of her, and enjoy your teens and 20s. Ahhh, to be in college again...

Hey wurz, welcome to the site, good to have you with us here.
The S type is a great car and there are plenty of really knowledgable guys here as well as some fantastic techs too.
Check out the S type section and look at the FAQ quick links and TSB's for ideas and possible answers to any questions you may have.
