Hi... I am on my 3rd jag and I just love the cars. I have found the forums very helpfull and for the first time I didn't find an answer. I guess I should post on a xk8 forum - but I wanted to do a brief intro.

My issue is with a 97 xk8 that just cranks and no starting. I never heard a xk8 just crank as they always fire up, but my gut is that is sounds horribly wrong like no compression all of a sudden.

To the xk8 post I go...

Thanks Anthony - I really appreciate the help. I dont think its fuel related as it just out right went from running fine to nothing. It sounds odd cranking - did you listen to youtube video?

I just talked to a Jag mechanic yesterday about this very symptom. I told him I wanted to get my xk8 in for the cam chain tensioner upgrade and during that conversation he described exactly what you have experianced. he stated that at start up when the tensioners have no oil pressure they will not extend to keep the chain tight and then the cams jump timing. I hope you don`t have this issue.
My car is in the shop right now for the upgrade. Robert Myers
