Hello - Owner of 94 XJ12
Hello all,
I have been working on my 94 XJ12 for the past couple of months but as I am a complete mechanical novice this is quite the learning curve!
Only completed the basics, changed the distributor, the rotor, the leads and the plugs. Removed and had the injectors refurbished in an attempt to get my emissions down to passing levels.
Eventually I ran out of time to get her through registrations so I took her to a new shop and had them finish what I started.
Just under $1k later I have a emissions pass and completed registration.
There were no alerts on the VCM but they eventually found induction air leaks, de-coked the valves and replaced both lamda sensors.
Then gave me a nice long list of additional things to do. So I know I will be asking lots of questions!
Hopefully a quick photo is attached. I will ask my first question in the XJ40/XJ81 forum.
Thanks
Andy

She is testing me.. Another issue today.
so far I have:
Rough idle and she stinks when idling.
Hot start issue, generally will start on the second attempt but can still be rough for a second.
Oil pressure gauge hits zero on occasion. Cleaned sender contact and have a replacement sender to install.
Today the fuel gauge hit zero even though I have a full tank.
Front wheel bearings are loose, garage says they just need to be tightened rather than replaced.
Front sway bar bushings are shot.
Rear shocks and mounts need to be replaced and not sure if self leveling has been removed or not.
Then there is the interior... The first thing there will be to get some air blowing!

Welcome to the forum Andy,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XJ40/XJ81 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
