Default Hello from snowy NE PA!

I saw this forum was full of helpful, like minded people, and decided to join. I have a 72 XKE 2+2 in my garage. The odometer says 45000 miles. I bought it back in the early 80s (I traded a 40 LaSalle for it). I used to drive it often, but life got in the way. Now I hope to find some advice here, and get this fun car back on the road - and maybe make it more fun! Like most 2+2s, mine is an automatic, and I really want to convert it to a standard. Input? yea or nay? Any comments would be appreciated.
My wife used to have an XJ40 that she drive for several years, but she sold it to a neighbor (at a garage sale!), whose kids drove it to school for several more years, so I'm familiar with those, also.

Welcome to the forum XKEFanatic,

Bet you're pleased now you stopped the garage sale before getting to the XKE.

Follow Norri's link to the E-Type tech section for help, advice and information.

As for converting to manual transmission, I've known a few done here in the UK so it's possible but costly. The XKE is worth a lot more than it was when you took it off the road in the 80's. A big factor in the value is originality and you need to balance the improvement in driving and performance with a manual gearbox against this potential devaluation. If it was mine, I'd change it regardless!

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Welcome to the forum.

Me, well if you can source all the bits, then convert to manual and have some fun.

Good to see you.
