Default Hello from So Orange County, CA

Hello to All,

SailorSEE here from the beach area of Southern California about mid way between LA and SD.

I am new to the forum; however, I have been a Jaguar driver since 2003. I developed a strong attraction to Jags in the late 60's when a high school bud purchased a '67 XKE. We became roommates in college, so I had the opportunity to experience the thrill of power, a roaring engine, and unequaled visual appeal. At that time I drove a '68 Triumph GT-6, a fun car with the Brit heritage, but not in the same ball park with the XKE.

I now drive a 2011 Black XF Supercharged. It is currently sitting on blocks in my garage while the 20" Selena wheels are being chrome plated by Paramount Wheels in Santa Anna. The chrome job was scheduled to be done in a Monday - Friday week. Apparently the plastic spoke covers are giving the shop a bit of a run for the money. I toyed with having the plastic painted black with the rest of the wheel being chrome, but I finally decided to keep the chrome look all around. I am really looking forward to getting the shoes back on the Cat and hitting the gas for a much needed shot of testosterone.

I really love my XF and only wish there were a bit less traffic around here so I could take better advantage of the 470 hp. The 73 toll road can be a fun stretch, but it seems like the only freeway in SoCal where the speed limit is enforced.

My car has just under 13,000 mi and has been a stellar ride. My only "bug" is a very slight creaking from the trunk when backing down my driveway. I tried a dry lubricant, which cured the creak for a few days. I had to resort to a weatherproof grease made specifically for squeaky rubber seals. I hope this is a more permanent cure, I just have to be careful not to lean on the rubber seal and get myself greased.

In closing I will just say that I have enjoyed reading this forum and hope to be able to contribute in the future.

Oh, I probably should disclose a similar passion for BMW's. I've owned quite a few since 1985 and currently own a red 97 Z3 2.8, with 60,000 miles, which is in show-car condition - a car that I'll never sell.

Once again - hello!

SailorSEE
