Default Hello From The Sonoma County Wine Country

I’m a fireman who lost my home in the fires in Sonoma/Napa this past October. To quell my grief, I purchased a 2008 Jaguar XJ 8 Long Wheel Base with 50k miles. Her name is Abby. Gotta have something nice to put in the new garage of my new home right? I know nothing about Jags. I don’t know if this is a good reliable car or one to avoid. I do know, however, how I feel when I get in it. I love hearing the “growl” when I start it and I know what the V8 feels like when I step on the gas!
This may very well be a case of “Ready, FIRE, Aim!” And I may regret the purchase if I am ever stranded on the side of the road. But for now, I smile ear to ear when I see it parked in the drive way of the rental my family and I are occupying and I laugh out loud when cruising at freeway speed and punch the throttle and feel the V8!Looking forward to participating on this forum! Happy New Year!T

I have always been an unrepentant and incorrigible tomboy, but my Jaguar makes me feel like a Lady! And then I step on the gas and the tomboy is back.

I'm sorry to hear of your losing your house; so much tragedy over there this past Summer. However, it's good you could salve your soul with a new Jaguar!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome.

Good choice the X350. Just get the "catch up" maintenance done, and you will be fine.

Enjoy the car, and the new house/garage.

Welcome to the forums, Tboneous. I am nearby, in Redwood Valley, where the firestorm here came alarmingly close but was stopped at a stretch of vineyards across from us. Sorry for your loss and I can't think of a better compensation than a lovely Jaguar! My daughter has an '06 XK8 Vanden Plas, which she's owned since it was nearly new, and it has been quite reliable. I hope you find that reassuring!

Default Thank you all for such a warm welcome

The title says it all.

I am so smitten by my new car. (well, new to me!) So much so, that I won't drive it in the rain! And rain is all its been doing this last week. I want it to stay pretty! I'm sure I'll get over that soon enough. I'm trying to find any and everything related to this car. I think I have an x358? There is precious little online about this model. Very few reviews from the major entities. Plenty of stuff on the new XJ (which is not nearly as beautiful/elegant) and stuff about everything from 2003 to 2007. 2008-09? not so much!

Would appreciate any resources/reviews you may have.

Here is a pick of my "Abby" on a sun filled day in Sonoma County. And still I park in a garage! One can never be to careful about those nasty UV rays!

Cheers
