Default Hello from Texas... possible 1st Jaguar purchase

After 32 years of continuous SAAB ownership, the time has come to widen our interest. My finance would really like to own a Jaguar X-type, having borrowed her Uncles' Jag a few times. Hoping to get some advice on what to look for while looking at used 2002-up X-types, 6cyl or V8. Won't be putting a lot of miles on it, probably no more than 3-5000 miles per year (weekend driver).

My only experience was a brief ownership (8 days) of an XJ6 back in the 1990's, so I'm pretty clueless. Thanks in advance for any advice, including which is the ultimate model to find (always "fun" to own the odd-ball or top-of-the-line model).

Rick & Teri

Welcome to the forum Rick & Teri,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Follow this link X-Type ( X400 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

If you want to include V8 Jaguars in your consideration then look at the X308 forum for 1997 - 2003 and the X350 forum for 2003 - 2009 models.

You can also visit the US Southwest Region forum by following this link US Southwest - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

You will get answers to any questions in the tech section X-Type ( X400 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum it may be worth considering the S Type also but then I'm biased. :-)

We're not fixated on X-Stype, I know the she would like to get most reliable used Jag possible, even though I don't mind repairing anything except transmission. Guess I need to look at S-types too.

Welcome.

Yes, look atthe S Types also.

I did NOT get the warm and fuzzies for the S when it was released, and I worked for Jaguar at the time, but now I have 2, his and hers, I am impresed, and that is NOT easy with me.
