Default Help Please

Hi Everyone
I have a 2004 X-type 2.0 Diesel that has sludgy gunk from oil in water system but no sign of water in the oil.
Is this a cracked head or gasket??
Wouldn't I have frothing in the oil?
The sump and top of motor is clean!!

Welcome to the forum Aussie Steve,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've made this identical post in X-Type tech forum and already getting replies so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Australia - Queensland Region forum by following this link Australia - Queensland - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Welcome Steve . . . and greetings from just down the road.

Great to have you join us at a time when the pot is boiling nicely in this part of the world. My colleague Clarke [o1xjr] will be along as soon as he gets back from the dry cleaners with the red carpet! . . . so I will leave him to welcome you to JaguarForums in Brisbane.

Anyway Steve. a huge welcome from all of us here. I hope the 4banger boys in the X-Type section are able to help with your woes and have you quickly back up to speed with your beastie.

Best wishes,
Ken

Hello Everyone, and thank you for the warm welcome.
I do not get onto the puter all that often so I apologise in advance if it takes me a while to reply.
Started pulling my motor apart but reluctant to remove the head in case that is not the problem.
Is there a water cooled oil line that could have ruptured giving me my symptoms??
Still waiting for a CD workshop manual to arrive from England.
Steve

Steve, the great advice starts with Graham at post #2 . . . get your car and engine details edited into your signature area so that others can see it in all your future posts . . . then head off to the X-Type section and do some research by using the Search Tools to focus on "Diesel", or "2.0L Diesel", followed by "oil in Water" or "water in oil" . . . got the idea?

Then, in that section, ask away. I can't quote you numbers for the X-Type Diesels in Oz, but I'll bet they are not huge. I'm the closest diesel owner that has popped up here and I have neither the same engine nor car model. Europe is another matter, and this where you will find the most informed advice.

Best wishes,
Ken
