Default Here we go...

Hello All, So, I bought a Jag after all these years..... and the next thing here I am on the www. looking for help! Ah, the joy of Jag ownership has found me....just posted a question about the renown harmonic hum if anyone can help that would be great. She's an 05 'X' 3.0 Sport Premium Auto Estate, otherwise I like it almost as much as she like petrol! Cheers all for 2010.

welcome to the site PG.
As far as your probs go these are well documented in the x type section.
Check out the x type FAQ quick links at the top of the page and you should find all the info you need, Good luck

PG1, welcome to the forums and enjoy the reading. There are lots of posts here and you will find that most things can get an answer in a very short period of time. Some times the answers may even surprised you. I know I will do my best to help out other members and give them step by step guides on how to do things.

Welcome PG1, when I first subscribed to the forum first thing I did was spend a few days reading almost all of the threads in the XJ subsection.

My recommendation to you is to read through as much X type threads as possible so you can really learn alot about your new purchase.

Goodluck and enjoy

Ok, I have now grease injected the prop bearing as per the photos I found on this forum, well, time will tell...it only does this hum until we have driven 3 - 4 miles and after that it goes altogether. First cold start tomorrow, here's hoping the grease will cure but not so sure. I still cannot accept Jaguars diagnosis that it's the T'Box as surely it wold get worse as the car warms up, any ideas on replacement props or reconditioned ones if the grease doesn't do the trick?

Welcome PG1. I hope that it works for you. Please post up some pics if you have not already done so. We don't get to look at estates.

Darn! It's was just the same this morning...so the grease didn't work for me, what do I try now? I cannot bring myself to part with £1200 for a brand new prop, does anyone know who can supply reconditioned ones? I gather the actual centre bearing cannot be bought seperately.

Tech questions should really be posted in the appropriate car type section for better responses.

However whilst browsing my lunch time sandwich I came up with this TSB concerning Prop Shafts. might help you with your dealer. Don't know.
