Exclamation Hi From Las Vegas, Nevada

I'm in Las Vegas. New to your forum. Have a 2002 Jaguar XJ8. Saw a thred on the issue of mine but no one said anything about the issue I have. The "CHECK REAR LIGHTS" message appears everytime I step on the brake pedal. I have a friend that has a car I purchased earlier this month and sold to him. We tried swapping the tail lights on his car and mine. The same issue comes up on mine. When the headlights are on, olny two lights light up on the rear tail lights. On his car, all four lights light up. The dealership says and I do agree with them that the problem is more of a Security Module problem then a light problem. I have heard that some people try to bypass the security module and by doing this it causes the rear tail lights to not work on one filament of the tail lights. All the other lights work. Also does any one know where I can get the 3rd tail light window clip? one on my car is missing. Thanks all. Good to be part of this!

Hello, John,
Doesn't that just Irritate you when you can't find the cause of such a fault?
Someone will be along shortly to direct you to our XK8 section where you will doubtless find help for that problem.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome.

I suggest a quicky repost in the XJ8 ( X308) Tech Section.

Depending on the time zones, the answers/suggestions will flow.

Good luck.

Hey Everybody. Moved to Vegas in July 2018. Drive a 2002 XK8 that runs great and like all Jags still looks great (lines are timeless).
Had a reliable mechanic in Minnesota and searching for one out here. Check engine light (amber) on ran into a problem with smog check. Was able to pass last time after putting in $450 in repairs but light is back on.
There is no reason this car can't run to 175K but the smog regs are frustrating.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
