Cool Hi...my Jag and I are from Tacoma, WA

Hi all. I purchased a 2001 S-Type V8 black Jag in mint condition about 4 years ago. Paid cash so it is mine! I have wanted one since I was 12 years old. Finally got one. I love the style of the S Type.

I'll be a regular member here but first I have some urgent questions. I believe I found some suggestions here but want to be certain. A few weeks ago my car alarm starting going off for no reason. I drove it yesterday and there was no problem. However, tonight everything was completely dead. I came here to see how to open the trunk to try to jump the battery. Found the keyhole. Thanks!!!

So from reading here I'm hoping it's the battery. I will take the battery to Autozone tomorrow and let them check it. Any other suggestions? I've had to deal with the heating issues already and had a new heater control valve and thermostat put in. Goodyear said I had a few leak issues when I had the oil changed last week.

But what makes the battery just 'go' like that???

Thanks!!!

Welcome to the forum aprilneo,

A failing battery can cause all kinds of weird electrical issues with a Jaguar. Definitely the first thing to check and eliminate before thinking of possible module issues.

Follow this link S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the S-Type section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the US Northwest Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/northwest-washington-oregon-idaho-sw-canadians-64/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to this friendly Forum.
Batteries are like people - they can either fade away or just pop off one day.

Thanks! I thought so. I'm originally from Chicago. Been here in Tacoma for 2 years and love it! I'm staying! I drove my Jag from Chicago to St. Louis to Austin, TX to Phoenix to LA and up to Seattle. Best road trip ever!!! My Jag drove like a dream!

Your Sig looks great.

It's probably the pic size that's stopping your SigPic from loading. Limits are 500 x 100 Pixels OR 9.8KB - whichever is smaller. For example, my SigPic is 125 x 59 Pixels and 9KB.

You may have to use photo editing software to get your chosen SigPic down to these limits.

Welcome aprilneo!

Hope others in the S-type section chase away your blues real soon.

I'm north of you across the bridge and one thing I have to toss out there about one-off "strange behavior", is that right around that date we had a Super Carrier (USS Ronald Reagan) doing Electronic Jamming tests here in Bremerton. They post it in the papers and such because it tends to mess with everything in our area.
My motion lights and sensors were going nuts for days around here, and many complain about car remotes misbehaving (along with garage doors malfunctioning). Not really sure it relates to your issue, but I have no doubt the ECM (Electronic Counter Measures) aboard the Reagan can frazzle Tacoma at 1/10 its rated power output.

Keep track of the Pacific Northwest section of the forum, maybe you can bring your lovely cat to one of the summer gatherings!

Vince
