Talking Hi from SF Bay Area

Hi,

New owner of a 99 Anthracite XJR. Totally in love with her, kinda the same passion I have for the 911 body. Making her into my daily. My sad moment was going through the wrecking yard for parts and seeing how someone used a sawzall to open up the center console for a part, so sad.

She started her life in Pennsylvania, as a fleet lease. Then made her way to a Saab dealer in Massachusetts, only to be traded in to a Porsche dealer a year later. She made it to the west coast in 2002 and has remain here since. P/O did a great job of keep her in great shape.

Service I've done so far:
- Upper and lower timing tensioner and chains updated
- New set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires
- Waterpump, thermostat, coolant expansion tank, and AL thermostat housing
- Oil change
- AC recharged
- Real Gauge for Coolant temp
- Updated all speakers, less sub (next)
- Replaced all the broken/missing fir trees in door panels
- Updated center console 'cup holder'
- Added iCar Bluetooth to existing stereo

Todo:
- Headliner
- Android head unit and Amp install

...and all the little things that my OCD mind catches as I go through these task.

I want to thank all the forum contributors, as I've been on this list quietly for the last two months researching and DYIng.

Again thank you all,

-R

I hear ya!
Right after I got my Jag we went to the local wrecking yard for heater blower pieces and found Just the right car (Series 3) that had a Lot of Climate Control work done before being abandoned in someone's back yard for some decades.

I was careful removing the whole entire dash area and console in case someone needed things I didn't. When we first found the car it was complete, even had a Pristine windshield which I couldn't use as my car is Series 2! But very soon some destructive little (insert favorite derogatory pronoun here) smashed it to smithereens for no other reason than to break stuff. Several other windshields in that area of the yard were also ruined.

I can tell you from personal experience how much your car will appreciate all your hard work, not to mention your OCD. (The most successful Classic Jaguar Owners are thus afflicted I have discovered.)

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Rich,

Good to have you with us. You have been busy with the to-do list!

It sounds like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome to the Forums.

Well done on that "to do" list, as a Jaguar owner, you will go far, trust us all on that one.

Like Elinor, way back, I needed some dash items for one of my S2 cars, and the wreckers had a few, but the usual "Wombats" had destroyed the timber, just because. One of them had Concours looking Timber prior to the idiot.

Good luck
